GLP-1 Lawsuits Involving NAION Filed in Federal Court: 200 Cases as of August 2026

Patients Using Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus, Mounjaro, and Zepbound Seek Legal Compensation for Vision Loss

(Posted by Tom Lamb at Drug Injury Watch)

In December 2025, GLP-1 lawsuits involving NAION filed in federal court were consolidated by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML). This ruling keeps drug injury lawsuits for the NAION eye side effect associated with the GLP-1 agonists class of drugs — such as Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus, Mounjaro, and Zepbound — separate from other injuries, like gastroparesis, that have been reported in recent years.

As of August 2026, MDL-3163 IN RE: Glucagon-like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonists (GLP-1 RAs) Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy Products Liability Litigation had 200 GLP-1 lawsuits involving NAION pending before U.S. District Judge Karen S. Marston, in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. See: MDL Statistics Report – Distribution of Pending MDL Dockets by District, Report Date: 8/3/2026.

More possible GLP-1 lawsuits involving NAION are being investigated, and that number of 200 federal court cases will continue to increase in the coming months.

Further, there are additional GLP-1 lawsuits involving NAION filed in various state courts around the country on behalf of patients using Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus, Mounjaro, and Zepbound who are seeking legal compensation for their vision loss due to nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION).
